Always Wanted to Play Piano?
Perhaps you’re a beginner, had some lessons before, or are self taught. Playing piano is always something you’ve wanted to do. My piano lessons are designed to move students forward to reach their musical goals. Lessons are tailored for you and what makes you happy. With the proper guidance and motivation, anyone can play piano and keyboard with proficiency.

Students

Beginning students are always welcome and encouraged. If you already play, then we’ll plan your next musical adventure. Learning in a relaxed atmosphere, and being at ease, will enable you to play beautiful music. I don’t have recitals or ask students to perform. Escape from a busy life into the world of piano music.

The focus is on having a great time, enjoying yourself, and having the best piano experience possible. If you have fun, you’ll achieve results. That will motivate you to learn more. I explain music concepts to students in simple language and that makes for more effective learning. Adults and children of all ages come to my studio, and bring something distinctive to the lessons.

“My piano teacher is wonderful. The lessons are giving me a new appreciation of music. I never knew there was so much going on. The lessons are not stressful and I like that. What a patient teacher. I am learning the read music, play by ear, blues improv, and all sorts of musical things. Playing at home is very relaxing. I can tune out the whole world.” – Susan White
“My kids are so excited about their piano lessons, they really love playing. We are so happy with their teacher. He makes the lessons interesting and fun at the same time. Both my children are learning to read music, play by ear, compose music, make CD recordings.

They are having a great time. They do lots of fun stuff to keep them engaged. I'm totally pleased with their progress. Music education is important to me, and I know that playing piano improves children's overall performance in school. We can readily see this happen in their schoolwork. I want my kids to have the best education.” - M. Paterson
“I'm an adult beginner and started lessons about a year ago. I love the piano lessons here. I am really enjoying learning to read music. My favorite is classical and new age. The lessons are fun and my teacher has a great sense of humor. The lessons are relaxing and not stressful at all. I get to learn new skills every week. It's easier than I thought it would be. I look forward to lessons every week. I find it completely fascinating learning about this world of piano music; something that I've always dreamed about doing.”‎ - Ronda Roberts
“My daughter really loves to play the piano. She has so much more confidence in herself, and she has learned that hard work brings rewards. This is something I am so glad she is learning. I see how proud she is when she has learned a new piece. Her playing has improved so much in just a short time. She also likes composing her own original songs.

I'm glad her lessons are not like school work and that the experience has been so positive for her. The lessons are not easy, but she is challenged just the right amount so she feels a sense of accomplishment every week. I couldn’t be happier with the lessons". - Madison W.
“Really thrilled to have found my teacher. I’m an adult beginner piano student. I had been thinking about beginning piano lessons for such a long time. I’m so glad I got started and didn’t wait any longer. My learning experience has been great. My teacher is so skilled and creative at presenting new lesson ideas to me. He has excellent communication skills and makes the studio a friendly, comfortable place to learn.

I enjoy learning to read music, pop, classical, and blues piano. I had started with another teacher, but his approach was way too stiff and serious for me. Here, I am relaxed, and get to have fun. I feel like I have the freedom to experience new things without any pressure. My teacher is very patient and very supportive in helping me move forward. I can completely recommend him as a teacher.” - W. Ronald

Self Expression & Creativity

There is a world of great piano music, every possible style and level of complexity that is just right for you. Learn some Bach or Beatles, or some chords to accompany your singing. Perhaps Blues improvisation interests you, or learning to jam with friends or family. A variety of styles to learn includes classical, pop, blues, folk, electronic, and improvisation.

How I Teach
Each of my students is unique. Good communication makes it possible to have a relaxed teaching environment. Everyone has different interests and I encourage students to help chart the direction of their learning. Tell me what you are most excited about playing on the piano. As students develop music skills, their ability to play naturally follows, and lots of fresh and exciting music to learn.

Music affects people in many ways. In addition to the simple joy of being able to play an instrument, students will improve their creative thinking. Listening to music becomes an entirely new experience. As your knowledge of music concepts builds, you’ll feel increased confidence and grow as a complete musician.

Lessons & the Studio
One-on-one individual lessons are the best way for you to learn rapidly. I look forward to seeing my students each week. They are all fascinating people, and make my teaching time special for me. Whether you are a complete beginner, or someone who has played before, personalized, individual lessons will get you to where you want to go.

After many years of teaching, I’ve learned what makes the best use of my student’s time to speed up the learning process. Everything we do at the studio is designed for you to learn quickly. No unnecessary memorization, drills, or exercises. You will use the things you learn. Studying music on a piano or keyboard is the same for either instrument. Both are fine for practicing at home. Call me to discuss piano and keyboard lessons.
